Cheerleading: Mini-Flag and Flag Division

Amanda Potter, Cheer Vice-President, is responsible for the operation of our Cheer Program. Amanda has been involved with the league since 2008 when her daughter began cheering in our Flag Division.

Demographics

The Flag Division is made up of two squads known as the Flag Cadets and High Steppers. Our Flag Cadets are in Pre-Kindergarten while our High Steppers are in Kindergarten.

New Participants

New cheerleaders are assigned to squads based on their grade level.

Returning Participants

Returning cheerleaders are assigned to squads based on their grade level. If your participant is Pre-Kindergarten she will return to this division as a High Stepper next year. If your participant is a Kindergartener she will enter the Junior Division next year.

Concession Stand

All families are required to work the concession stand on one day, one time each season, for one hour prior to or following your participant's game or performance.

If a team does not have full coverage during their assigned time, no game announcement will be provided for that team.

Equipment

The BWYAA provides a uniform for game day and the league is coordinating bow and spankie orders for the 2016 season. The uniform is returned at the end of the season.

Practices

In this Division, teams are permitted to practice two times each week throughout the season. Practices do not exceed one and a half hours in length. Locations are communicated by the Head Coach.

Performances

All Flag Cadet and High Stepper performances are at JR Smith Park in Sunbury, Ohio. These performances are generally scheduled mid-day each Saturday. Parking is congested during game transitions, especially from 12:00PM to 2:00PM.

The paved driveway from the Scoreboard around to the Concession Stand must remain clear in the event of an emergency. Games and performances will be halted if this parking request is violated.

Special Event

At the end of the season, the BWYAA sponsors a Monday Night Football experience for our Flag Divisions. Games are played under the lights with special activities throughout the evening. This event is a celebration for all of our football players and cheerleaders and is a great way to end the season. Our Flag Cadets and High Steppers steal the half-time show!
